There are many different types of property available, and the one you choose, may be down to your needs, or it may just be the property you fall in love with when you see it.

Your typical choices include:

Apartment

Apartments can range in size from studio (with no separate bedroom), through to 1,2 and even 3 bedrooms. All will have kitchen, dining an living areas. Some may even offer en-suite bathrooms in addition to the standard bathroom. There will usually be a balcony or small terrace for outside space. Apartments tend to be located in more built up areas, closer to the facilities of an area, where here is greater need for more properties.

Penthouse

Penthouses are apartments that are able to benefit from often outstanding views by being positioned on the top floor. Many will offer large terraces, sometimes above the apartment, sometimes on the same level. Penthouses are generally viewed as the premier of all apartments, due to the added facilities they offer.

Duplex

A duplex is an apartment which is on 2 levels. The bedrooms may be on 1 floor while the living accommodation is on another, much like a house, but with other properties above or below it. They can range from usually 2-4 bedrooms.

Townhouse

A townhouse will be a house, usually on 2 or 3 levels, which is adjoining other houses, usually on both sides, much like a terrace in the UK. Many will offer a roof terrace and a garden or private swimming pool, and they usually range from 2 to 4 bedrooms.

Semi-detached

Semi detached properties on this site are pretty much the same as in the UK, between 2-4 bedrooms, with garden around 1 side of the property as well as at the front and back. May have private swimming pool and patio areas.

Villa

Villas offer the greatest opportunity for getting away from it all. Although villas can be found on the coast they can also be found inland, often surrounded by acres of land. They can have anything from 2 -10 bedrooms, as well as offering the greatest privacy they also offer the most options as most off-plan villas can be tailored to the needs of the client, if not completely designed for them. On large plots, private swimming pools and gardens are possible, as well as patio barbeque areas, and even garages for cars.

Land

If you want to completely design your own piece of heaven, the option of buying a plot of land on which to build your dream home could prove too tempting. With the help of local experts, this could result in a significant profit if you choose to later sell your house, although it is essential to ensure you do everything correctly. All countries require planning permission and building regulations in the same way as the UK does. If this is the option for you, definitely do not go it alone....
